Important Community Updates
From the Board: May 2024
We held the HOA meeting on May 21, 2024 and counted the votes for the changes to our covenants. Unfortunately, we did not receive enough votes to pass any of the covenant changes. We needed 53 votes and only 49 out of the 80 homeowners submitted votes.
The following is the breakdown on the covenants:
#1 - 33 Yes / 16 No
#2 - 36 Yes / 13 No
#3 - 41 Yes / 8 No
#4 - 30 Yes / 19 No
#5 - 40 Yes / 9 No
#6 - 32 Yes / 17 No
#7 - 37 Yes / 12 No
The Board plans to request homeowners to vote again in a couple of months. We hope to get the other 30 homeowners involved in the voting. The Covenant Committee and the Board feel these changes are needed to ensure we continue to have a family residence and to protect our property investment.
The Board is investigating placing some of the HOA general funds in CDs to gain a higher interest rate.
We are also getting bids on a new system for the entrance gate. Our current equipment is constantly requiring repairs and needs replacing. The new system will eliminate the monthly payment to AT&T for a service that is no longer needed.
The sprinkler system is being replaced with updated boxes as it is being repaired. We have several areas that have been inoperable for quite a while.

Pet Policy Reminder
Here at the Palms at Amelia there is a two pet maximum and only owners and their tenants are allowed pets. Guests are prohibited from bringing pets onto the property. Please keep pets away from common area flowers and shrubs. The following guidelines also apply:
a) Pets shall not be left unattended on any portion of the property.
b) Pets must be on a leash at all times. Owners are responsible to remove pet excrement from grounds.
c) The following dog breeds have been classified as dangerous dogs and are not allowed on the complex property: Pit Bull, Staff Bull Terrier, Doberman, Rottweiler, German Sheppard, ChowChow, Great Dane, and Pres Canaraios.
The Palms Sunshine Committee
The Palms at Amelia Sunshine Committee is a group of neighbors whose mission is to offer assistance and support to the Palms community. Members of the Sunshine Committee provide:
- Introductory packet to new residents.
- Assistance in times of sickness and need.
- Help in completing a needed task.
- Holiday decorations (see Palms Pictures)
- Fellowship events in the pool cabana area.

Welcome to our neighborhood website! It has been designed to keep you up to date with news and information from the Palms Board. While the Home page and Amelia Island Page (both with pictures and local information) will remain relatively consistent, the "Members Only' section of the website will be continually updated.
In the "Members Only" area you will find three headings. You will receive an email notification (if you allowed Galphin to use your email for notifications) when an item is added to any of these headings.
